Digital activities are my new favorite! They are low prep and easy to grade! What I really love about them is the freedom to make them colorful without shelling out millions of dollars for color ink! Taking in the fact that this distance learning period is only temporary, I have started making matching printable versions of my activities for when things go back to normal!
When we go back to school, I would love to continue using digital activities even then! But, my school does not have a ton of access to technology so I plan to use them as either homework assignments or save them for computer lab days!
I have been brainstorming how I can use them next year with limited technology in my school:
1. Do Nows/Warm Ups
If each student has a device, have them do a digital activity as their warm-up! You could assign just a few problems!
2. Homework
These could easily be assigned as homework! They are great for spiral review to revisit previously learned materials.
3. Stations
These activities work really well if every student does not have access to a device. You could set up one laptop in the classroom and use it as one of the stations in a math station rotation. If short on time, you could have one digital activity open and each student would have to complete just one problem from it!
4. Classwork
They are great for independent or whole class classwork. I’ve even used them as exit tickets, each student would have to give me an answer to one question before being dismissed.
5. Use Digital Activities as Test Review
Try a digital scavenger hunt or play digital bingo!
If you are hesitant to try them with your class, I understand! It is NEW and DIFFERENT. But, I think you are going to love it and your students will TOO!
